The most confusing part of the chapter is how to understand who is white. What are the categories that mark a person as white? Is skin color not enough to categorize someone as white? According to the definition, whites originate from Europe, the Middle East, or North Africa, including German, Irish, English, Italian, Iranian, Lebanese, Egyptian, Polish, French, Iranian, Slavic, Cajun, and Chaldean (Golash-Boza, 2021). However, it is confusing that people of the Middle East do not see themselves as white even though racism exists there too. It is also confusing why Latin people are not considered white.
